Located on the West Coast and set against a backdrop of towering trees and aquamarine sea, the composition of this single-family beach house celebrates Barbados' vernacular wooden Chattel house by placing it on an elevated masonry ground plane while preserving the layers of privacy, typical in this iconic typology.
Duality becomes a theme throughout the house. Walls become windows, windows become doors, glass roofs dissolve into sky and boundaries between indoors and outdoors are seamless allowing the small house to feel exceptionally spacious.

PORTOBELLO
In this extensive renovation project the interior of Portobello was completely reconfigured.
The circulation route was relocated to allow the original room layout to be reversed. Walls were removed to create generous open plan spaces with large sliding folding windows and doors utilised to capture the unobstructed panoramic ocean views created.
A spiral staircase was introduced to internally connect the Great Room to the accommodation on the lower level previously only accessible externally.
